Feminine Rejuvenation: What To Know

Feminine Rejuvenation: What To Know

Women. Let’s talk. Is your confidence low due to a lack of sensation? Or are you a mom that has experienced changes since pregnancy and childbirth?

You have not had children, but experience vaginal dryness, stress urinary incontinence, or painful intercourse?

If you’ve answered yes to any of those questions, I want to talk to you about vaginal rejuvenation, and how it can help you.

Why is Feminine Rejuvenation Necessary?

Our bodies are constantly changing. Did you know changes in estrogen levels affect our vaginal health? Estrogen is a hormone that plays various roles in the body. In females, it helps maintain the reproductive system, and female characteristics – breast appearance, vaginal health, mental health!

Our body is all about balance. Balance in hormones contributes to balance in our overall health. Low estrogen levels, for example, have been proven to decrease vaginal lubrication, thus painful sex, increase risk of urinary tract infections due to a thinning of the urethra, irregular or absent menses, mood swings.

Over time, women start to experience changes with their vaginal tissues due to changes in hormones, menopause, or childbirth. We all know menopause causes drop in estrogen, thus women experience vaginal dryness, painful sex, hot flashes, along with a list of unpleasant symptoms.

However, women don’t have to be prepartum, postpartum, perimenopausal, or menopausal to experience an imbalance in hormones. Do you know the feelings of fatigue, trouble concentrating, and low mood before that period? That’s that dang Estrogen.

Did you know women can experience a drop in estrogen levels due to things like rigorous exercise, excessive stress, and depression?

So why are we talking about estrogen? The changes and imbalance of female hormones, will change the appearance of vaginal tissue on the outside, and cause unpleasant concerns on the inside.

There is a procedure that could help improve these concerns.

The Female Rejuvenation Procedure

  1. J. Sweat Plastic Surgery Center offers a nonsurgical feminine rejuvenation system, called ThermiVA. This is a non-invasive vaginal rejuvenation method that uses radiofrequency energy.

You might ask, well what is radiofrequency and is it safe?

Radiofrequency is a type of energy, that is measured in wavelengths. All types of energy from soundwaves of your speaker, to sunlight, to highly radioactive gamma rays are classified by frequency on the “electromagnetic spectrum”

Radiofrequency is one category on this spectrum, including a lot o common things we use every day, TV, radio, Wifi. The RF energy is roughly 450kHz, which is on the slow end of the RF range.

Safe? Absolutely! Make sure you do your research where you want your procedure done, you want to select a board-certified plastic surgeon.

RF energy is used to heat the external and internal tissue of the vaginal canal, this results in the production of collagen and elastin. Collagen is a natural structure found in our skin that helps to keep the skin looking young, elastin works with collagen to keep it firm and tight. By stimulating collagen and elastin production, cell turnover happens, helping skin become firmer, thicker, youthful-looking.

This treatment is painless and only takes approximately 30-45 minutes. Women may feel a warming sensation but is an overall comfortable procedure.

Patients report improved exterior appearance of vaginal structures, also in improved symptoms like stress urinary incontinence, painful intercourse, vaginal dryness.

Downtime After Vaginal Rejuvenation

Due to the noninvasive nature of this treatment, there is no downtime associated. Some patients notice an immediate change but not always. The customized treatment plan will consist of a series of treatments, spaced six to eight weeks apart. It takes time to remodel tissue collagen and elastin, so it ultimately takes multiple sessions to see results. The response and longevity of results vary for each patient and variables, lifestyle, genetics, and hormones.
