What Are GalaFLEX & Strattice?

GalaFLEX and Strattice are reconstructive tissue matrices used in plastic and reconstructive surgery to reinforce soft tissue after an injury or surgical repair. Known as immediate soft tissue reinforcement or soft tissue repair, the absorbable scaffold provides a lattice for new tissue to grow into, replacing the material with natural tissue and long-lasting soft tissue strength. GalaFLEX and Strattice come in different shapes depending on the size and exact location required for tissue remodeling.

This surgeon is an artist!

I have had a multi-procedure surgery that was very difficult to recover from: a breast lift with augmentation, a lower body lift, and a BBL. This surgeon is an artist! I had a lot of extra skin after losing a lot of weight from bariatric surgery. The symmetry of his cuts is amazing. And even though I’m still recovering, I can already see how amazing the results are! I cannot recommend Dr. Sweat enough for these types of procedures. – Melissa S.

The Procedure

During reconstructive surgery, a GalaFLEX scaffold or Strattice tissue matrix can be placed under the skin and muscle, providing stronger tissue gradually transferring to native tissue ingrowth. After surgery, the tissue matrix will remain in place, and the body’s healing process will begin. New collagen and natural tissue fibers will then begin to grow through the spaces within the tissue matrix. The ingrown tissue will ultimately provide support for years to come.

GalaFLEX

GalaFLEX is made from a bioresorbable polymer that provides immediate soft tissue reinforcement in the area. Over time, it integrates with the natural tissue and is resorbed by the body, leaving only native tissue behind.

Strattice

Strattice is made from porcine tissue and promotes soft tissue repair, support for the initial healing phase, and wound healing. It’s sometimes known as an “internal bra” because it can integrate into the breast area and provide support over time.

Benefits

of GalaFLEX & Strattice

There are many benefits to incorporating GalaFLEX and Strattice into your breast surgery. Dr. Sweat will discuss them at length during a consultation.

Better Results

These soft tissue scaffolds can help improve your results, ensuring the breast tissue heals as intended. It can be used to more accurately maintain your body’s natural shape.

Better Structural Integrity

Over time, it’s normal for implants to sag if they’re not effectively reinforced. GalaFLEX and Strattice can help maintain results for the long term, giving the soft tissue strength.

Supplemental Tissue Support

Surgical bras are very important to the healing process after breast augmentation, but they may not be enough. Soft tissue scaffold placement can provide extra support even after you no longer wear your surgical bra.
