What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?

The Brazilian butt lift (BBL) is a buttock augmentation procedure to create a larger, more shapely backside while slimming problem areas like the hips. A type of buttock enhancement (gluteal augmentation), the Brazilian butt lift involves using your own fat cells to augment the buttocks rather than synthetic buttock implants – a process called fat grafting. Fat can be removed from any area of excess such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, back, and arms, and reinjected into the buttocks for a more proportionate body silhouette.

Who is a Candidate?

If you have flat or sagging buttocks (or feel that your buttocks are too small for your body) and wish to achieve a more balanced or hourglass look, you may be a good candidate for a Brazilian butt lift. You should be healthy, nonsmoking, and have realistic expectations for your surgery. For the best Brazilian butt lift results, you’re recommended to be at or near your ideal weight and be committed to maintaining your weight in the future.

If you have concerns about loose or excess skin in the areas that may be chosen for liposuction, you may not be the best candidate for this plastic surgery procedure. Once the fatty tissue is removed, having poor skin elasticity could lead to unfavorable results. A consultation with Dr. Sweat is needed to determine specifically if you’re a good candidate for this body contouring procedure.

I would definitely recommend them to anyone

Dr. Sweat and his team have given me the confidence I’ve always lacked in my body and I can’t be more grateful for their help and guidance. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to enhance their natural features.

This surgeon is an artist!

I have had a multi-procedure surgery that was very difficult to recover from: a breast lift with augmentation, a lower body lift, and a BBL. This surgeon is an artist! I had a lot of extra skin after losing a lot of weight from bariatric surgery. The symmetry of his cuts is amazing. And even though I’m still recovering, I can already see how amazing the results are! I cannot recommend Dr. Sweat enough for these types of procedures. – Melissa S.

It’s so important to have someone knowledgeable and friendly and you find that here at J. Sweats.

All of the staff is amazing and so personal in the sense they remember your name and treat you like a person not a number. The new office is gorgeous and both offices have always been so clean and well decorated. Just great people and great energy when trusting someone with a body modification it’s so important to have someone knowledgeable and friendly and you find that here at J. Sweats. – Lex L.

The Procedure

Brazilian butt lift procedures are done under IV sedation and local anesthesia on an outpatient basis. If extensive liposuction is to be performed, including in multiple areas, you may opt for a general anesthetic. Your Brazilian butt lift surgeon, Dr. Sweat, will review the details of your procedure during a consultation.

Benefits

of the Brazilian Butt Lift

Dr. Sweat will discuss in detail the many benefits of the Brazilian butt lift surgery during a consultation.

Body Slimming

Because not all the fat is expected to survive the transfer to the buttocks, we take a larger amount than needed from other areas of the body, giving you a slimmer figure in areas that matter most, which enhances the overall result from the buttock augmentation process.

Natural Results

Unlike procedures that use butt implants, the Brazilian butt lift means the injected fat will become a permanent feature once the blood vessels become established. This alleviates many of the risks that come with implants.

Minimally-Invasive Procedure

The Brazilian butt lift is minimally invasive thanks to the liposuction and fat transfer techniques used.

The Results

Following a Brazilian butt lift, you should not sit directly on your buttocks for three weeks. This is imperative to achieving optimal and long-lasting results because it allows for maximal fat survival. On average, only about 50% of the transferred fat ultimately survives, which means that the increased size of the buttocks seen immediately after surgery will slowly dissipate by half over the next several weeks to months.

A special compression garment will need to be worn for at least two weeks, which will help to reduce swelling. You’ll need to take one to two weeks off from work, depending on if your job requires you to sit extensively. All normal activities should be able to be resumed after four to six weeks
