How is the miraDry® Treatment Done?

The miraDry treatment is done in the office and is completely painless. Local anesthesia will be administered to the underarms to ensure a comfortable treatment experience. Then, the miraDry handpiece will emit precisely controlled electromagnetic energy and thermal energy to eliminate underarm sweat glands while protecting the overlying skin. This treatment can also eliminate underarm hair of all colors. One treatment of both underarms usually lasts about one hour. Results can be seen in as little as one treatment, so you can start feeling your best right away!

Results

miraDry results are immediate and permanent, so sweat glands will not come back after treatment. There is minimal downtime with only localized soreness, swelling, and bruising for a few days, so regular activities can be resumed almost immediately.  Mild numbness, sensitivity, and lumpiness may occur in the treated areas but should resolve within a few weeks. You should be able to return to work right away, and most patients typically resume exercise within several days.

For most patients, the reduction in bothersome sweat and odor is usually satisfactory with just one non-invasive treatment, but in a few patients, a second, or rarely, even a third treatment, may be required to achieve immediate and lasting results. How many treatments you need will depend on your unique needs.
